Telehealth Across Colorado

Online Therapy in Colorado

The same depth, the same directness, from wherever in Colorado you happen to be.

Some of the best work I have done has happened over video, with a client in a parked car on a lunch break, or in a cabin two mountain passes from the nearest therapist. Online therapy is not a lesser version of the real thing. It is the real thing, with a shorter commute.

I am licensed in Colorado, which means I can work with anyone physically in the state: Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, Longmont, Louisville, Golden, Grand Junction, Durango, the ski towns, the plains. If you are in Colorado and you have a private room and a decent connection, we can do this.

"Presence does not require the same zip code."

How it works

Sessions happen over secure, encrypted video. You get a link, you click it, we begin. Fifty to sixty minutes for individuals, longer for couples. Everything else is the same as in the room: mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, Gestalt, depth work and IFS, adult ADHD, a men's group, and PACT couples therapy, which I offer both online and in person.

What works well online

Most individual therapy translates cleanly. So does a surprising amount of nervous-system work, since you are practicing in the environment where you actually live. For some people the screen even makes it easier to say the true thing. Couples work is a little different. I do it online, and it goes well, but if you are within reach of Boulder I will often suggest at least the first few sessions in the room.

The practical part

The rates are the same income-based sliding scale as in person, with no verification required, and out-of-network superbills are available for private insurance. The first 30-minute consultation is free and happens by video too, so you will know exactly what this feels like before you commit to anything. If you are ever in Boulder, my office is on Spruce Street downtown and you are welcome to come in.

Common questions

Who can you see online?

Anyone physically located in Colorado at the time of the session. I am licensed in Colorado, so that includes Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, Longmont, Louisville, Golden, and the mountain towns.

Is online therapy as effective as in person?

For most individual work, yes, and the research on telehealth psychotherapy supports that. Some people prefer the room, and for couples work I offer both. We can talk through what fits you in the free consultation.

Is it private?

Sessions use secure, encrypted video. You will want a private space on your end, and I am glad to problem-solve that with you if home is not an option.

Does online cost the same?

Yes. The same income-based sliding scale applies, and the first 30-minute consultation is free.
