About
Dylan Leigh, MA, LPC
Licensed professional counselor in Boulder, Colorado. Direct, unpretentious, and not here to pathologize you.
Where I come from
Before I was a therapist, I worked in a cognitive-affective science lab, helping write and publish research on meditation, compassion, and emotion regulation. I loved the science, and I kept noticing what the data pointed back to, that people change in relationship, in practice, in a life actually lived. So I went to the room where that happens.
I trained at Naropa University, in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling, and I am licensed as a professional counselor in the State of Colorado. These days I split my time between this practice and Naropa's Graduate School of Counseling, where I teach foundational counseling skills, Gestalt, and the application of mindfulness in counseling. I also consult with businesses and organizations on mindfulness and emotional intelligence. Teaching keeps me honest. If I can't explain why something works, I don't use it.
How I work
In session I'm direct and unpretentious. No performance, no clinical distance. Some weeks the work is concrete, skills to steady your nervous system, a plan for the pattern that keeps biting you. Other weeks it's slower and more searching, closer to philosophy than technique. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, PACT, Gestalt, IFS, and depth psychology are the tools I reach for most, and I fit the tool to you, not the other way around.
I specialize in neurodivergence, particularly adult ADHD, and in couples who still love each other but have lost the thread. Depression, anxiety, and substance-use recovery come up often, and I run a weekly men's group. Most of the people I see aren't after a quick fix. They want to understand themselves and build something that holds.
What I am, and what I am not
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC). I am not a psychologist and not a psychiatrist, and I do not prescribe medication. If medication is part of your care, you'll work with a physician or psychiatrist for that, and I'm glad to coordinate with them. I work with adults and couples. I've been through my own dark nights of the soul, and they shaped the therapist I became, one who meets you as a person and not a diagnosis.
Outside the office
You'll find me with family and friends, in the mountains skiing, climbing, and trail running, or at the ocean surfing. Colorado is a good place to remember you have a body, and so is therapy.
