Men's Work

A therapeutic approach built for the unique challenges of men and masculinity in our society, and the opportunities hidden inside them.

One of the pressing challenges of our time is the changing role of men in society. The growing egalitarian dynamic between men and women, across the workforce, education, and home, is a welcome and positive development, and it has deconstructed antiquated power structures that needed deconstructing. Yet in the process, real and detrimental conditions endemic to men and boys have been overlooked: earlier ADHD diagnosis, earlier onset of substance use disorder, and higher rates of incarceration, suicide, and overdose.

Meanwhile, the relationships that historically carried meaning and purpose have eroded. Deep friendship, dating, marriage, and child-rearing are all in decline, and more steeply among men. We believe these conditions are challenges, but ultimately opportunities: taken courageously, they can awaken a more fully integrated and effective version of who and what we can be.

"Spaces where men can be real with each other are vanishingly rare. We build one, every week."

A two-fold approach

First: individual psychotherapy aimed at emotional intelligence and social functioning. Often we begin with what's most present: anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles. From there, the work turns toward personal goals: connecting with values, mission, vision, and purpose.

Second: a weekly men's group that brings like-minded men into genuine conversation. What our society most lacks are spaces where men can support one another and be real and vulnerable together. The group provides that opportunity, guided by an experienced therapist with structured exercises and topics.

Rooted in a deeper tradition

This work draws on the study and practice of therapeutic interventions tailored to the psychological needs and sociocultural pressures men experience. The field has evolved from early 20th-century psychoanalytic theories, which often neglected men's emotional expression, to contemporary approaches incorporating mythopoetic and spiritual structures. Archetypal narrative and contemplative practice help men navigate both their inner landscape and their outer relationships with self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and healthier ways of coping.
