Couples Therapy

Attachment Theory & PACT

For repairing relationships and building secure functioning: a partnership where you're genuinely in it together.

Most couples who find their way here still love each other. What's gone missing is the connection. The conversation feels procedural, the closeness intermittent, and you both want the spark back. That's not a failing relationship; it's a relationship whose love is buried under pattern. Pattern is workable.

Couples work here relies on attachment theory and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT). Attachment theory guides our understanding of how early relationships with primary caregivers shape our capacity to form bonds, express emotion, and navigate conflict. Recognizing your unique attachment style (secure, anxious, avoidant, or disorganized) offers invaluable insight into your behavioral patterns, emotional responses, and relationship dynamics.

PACT builds on that foundation and incorporates insights from three critical areas: neuroscience, arousal regulation, and attachment theory. By exploring how these interplay in your relationship, we help you and your partner form secure and resilient bonds.

"A secure-functioning relationship is one where partners are 'in it together': a safe haven and a secure base for each other."

Inside the room

In session, we facilitate open and empathetic communication, allowing each partner to understand the other's attachment style, fears, and needs. The work is direct and experiential. We notice what happens between you in real time, and practicing repair while it matters most.

Your relationship, as a living thing

We view your relationship as a living, breathing entity that deserves care, understanding, and nourishment. The attachment- and PACT-informed approach encourages couples to support each other's growth, repair ruptures, and strengthen their bond. It's a journey of coming together: navigating life's challenges hand in hand and building a love that's resilient, nurturing, and deeply fulfilling.
